Consortium CTB-OEI Complete the Project to Restore Seabed at Thien Ung Wellhead

Vung Tau, October 16, 2023 – Consortium CTB-OEI has achieved a significant milestone by completing the restoration of the seabed at the Thien Ung Wellhead, owned by VietsovPetro. Despite facing challenging weather conditions and tough working environments, the consortium’s dedicated efforts have resulted in the successful restoration of this crucial offshore asset.

The Thien Ung Wellhead, located off the coast of Vung Tau, encountered issues following the drilling phase, leading to holes on the seabed after the demobilization of the Drilling Jacket Legs. Consortium CTB-OEI devised a meticulous plan to address this problem, demonstrating expertise, determination, and resilience in adverse conditions.

Key Project Highlights:

• Execution Timeline: The restoration project, which began in September 2023, concluded on October 16, 2023, ensuring minimal disruption to the wellhead’s operations.
• Vessel Deployment: A specialized vessel, loaded with 4,000 tons of sand, was dispatched to the site. This sand was systematically pumped into the seabed holes, providing a durable and effective solution.
• High-Pressure Pumping: The consortium utilized high-pressure hoses to methodically inject sand into the seabed holes, ensuring a thorough and reliable restoration process.
• Seabed Infrastructure: Dump clamps were employed to facilitate the sand filling process, and an advanced positioning system was used to guarantee precision throughout the operation.
• Support from “Hoang Sa”: The Heavy Lift crane barge “Hoang Sa” played a crucial role in bolstering the pumping operations, ensuring the timely completion of the project.

Despite adverse weather and tough working conditions, Consortium CTB-OEI’s unwavering dedication and collaborative efforts with OEI led to the successful restoration of the Thien Ung Wellhead’s seabed. This achievement not only safeguards the environmental integrity of the area but also upholds the operational standards of the wellhead, ensuring its continued productivity.
